  • composed characters losing their composure
  • kind characters snapping
  • characters hugging each other after one or both of them have been through hell

  • character says something hurtful. later on in the movie they are in a similar situation and say something kind instead.

  • griefstricken women (who under normal circumstances wouldn’t hurt a fly) lashing out and striking the person responsible for the loss of their loved one

i always found it a tad unrealistic they bounced to xing that quickly. they must’ve been exhausted. so here’s an interpretation where someone – probs roy &/or riza (for seeing themselves in these two) or armstrong (for what they, fu included, did for maria ross) – put them up for at least a night in a hotel.

…a very hard promised night. they lost so much. one too many arms and two too many loved ones.
