soulmakazine2018:

It’s been five years since the last chapter of Soul Eater was officially published in the Shonen GanGan Monthly magazine.

That’s why I chose today to open preorders on the SoulxMaka zine!

First: check out our awesome contributors! They are named according to either the preferred name they listed on their signup form or their most common screenname, but their pages are linked below.

If he could narrow the hundreds of wishes he has down to a single one— one that he would ask on every candle and dark tunnel— he thinks he would wish for courage.
(Marsh)
*
This time, she’s the one blushing. He can feel it rather than see it, a soothing warmth in his core that lights him from the inside out. (Chloe)
*
“Thaaaat’s going to be a no,” Stein says. “There’s no way I’m sending you back when you’ve still got stitches in.”
You still have stitches in,” Maka mutters under her breath, and next to her, Soul’s grip loosens on the jar as he chokes back a laugh. (VictoriaPyrrhi)
*
Maka couldn’t see Soul’s face, but his breath was hot on her cheek. Beads of sweat had collected on her forehead and threatened to slide down her face. (TheAlchemeister)
*
She couldn’t have known how one answer, spoken in stumbling tongues while Mama’s goodbye and Papa’s late night tears buzzed in the back of her mind, would unmake so many doors she now desperately wishes to open. (skadventuretime)
*
Soul with his family is a tomato in a bowl of apples–close in shape and colour and classification, but wrong in some undeniable way. (Mae Snapdragon [maebethistime on ao3])
*
Intimacy with Maka looks like that sometimes, like something unsure and taboo, and he’s not sure what to think of it. There’s nothing more platonic than cooking for his best friend while she sits at the table and tests the temperature of the bubbling footbath by dipping her toes in, recounting how her bad day had started off by both her heel and her patience breaking as she fought the wind for control of her umbrella. Rubbing her feet shouldn’t be interrupted by accidental kicks and nervous explanations that she’s ticklish and, ‘Soul your hands are too callousy for my calves.’ (redphlox)
*
“Tell me who to fight and I’ll do it!”
John snorted.
“You’re tiny, Alex.”
“I’ll bite their legs then.” (WrongDecision)
*
It’s not a lullaby, it’s nothing like a lullaby – Maka is too fierce for such a thing to represent her soul – no. It is fast and clear, with high, strong notes that speak determination, intelligence, beauty, strength. Yet there is a light undertone, something of empathy, something of compassion. (Professor Maka)
*
It’s hard to stay upset with Maka when they’ve lived together for so long – even if he can’t read her soul, he still knows her habits and flaws, and Maka is still Maka, even if she’s a little contrary sometimes. (makapedia)
*
“You know, I used to wish that I’d been born right.” — Even Maka has trouble remembering things sometimes. Luckily, Soul is there to help. (Whinnie)

This book is a work in progress. As such, an exact page count can’t be calculated right now. However, I am estimating that we will surpass 50 pages.

We have a couple of different bundles. The simplest option? Order just the zine. This version will cost $12.50, plus shipping.

Please note: the real file for the cover design is not a tumblr-ravaged jpeg.

If you’re interested in getting more stuff, consider the Collector’s Bundle! It comes with the zine, plus a clear acrylic charm, a fancier linen-textured bookmark, 4 unique stickers, a magnet, and a mini-print (not yet pictured). This bundle costs $24.50, plus shipping.

If this zine makes back more than the cost of manufacturing and shipping, the extra money will go to ImmigrationEquality (ImmigrationEquality.org). This zine is not a for-profit project. After the end of preorders, a summary of costs and earnings will be posted so everyone knows where their money has gone.
