amon as a character deserved better than being turned into a trite bullshit plot point to give a bad deus ex machina into a second season and also should never have been a bender at all and thats my hot take of the night
ten episodes building up a character who has in no way any resemblance to any water bender at all, ever, and whose motivations are entirely confined to a perspective of equal disenfranchisement and has been taking the opportunity to hit back where they were hit first? oh, sorry, our bad, we were kidding, he’s actually an evil bloodbender who has been duping and betraying all of you all along
and then when fans rightly call us out for a number of years repeatedly at length in person on social media etc for how badly handled and fucked up and bungled this commentary on oppression was we’re going to bring the movement for equality back and have them be duped by an EVIL DEFORMED BENDER WHO IS CONTROLLING ALL OF THEM FOR HIS OWN AGENDA AND THEN THEY WILL BE PUNISHED IN ACCORDANCE TO HIS EVIL CONTROLLING WAYS BECAUSE THE OPPRESSED CANT MAKE DECISIONS FOR THEMSELVES AND WILL ALWAYS BE USED AS A WEAPON AGAINST THEMSELVES BY THEIR DISABLED OPPRESSORS
also why wasnt the lieutenant their lead. why. why didnt they bring that perfectly good well motivated character with a lust for revenge and a big hateboner for his dead boss back to lead the nonbenders in the future seasons why can literally nothing in the atla universe ever be about nonbenders at all ever except as sidenotes in the narratives of benders
